You'd think they would be denouncing him, when his trainwreck on an electoral defeat happens, what's kissing up to him going to get them? They don't seriously think he can win the presidency?

Trump being old and senile he cannot learn fast enough or even have an administration that can react to other world leaders. During the past year Trump has not made any efforts to learn about the world or America. He is all trash talk, no policies or solutions But the Republicans love this.
