Rachel Maddow gives viewers a heads up about how close Hillary Clinton is to clinching the Democratic nomination and how an accounting of super delegates combined with the outcomes from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands could put her over the top sooner than many people realize.

(3,544 posts)do people not understand? And why is MSM in such a hurry?
OwlinAZ
(410 posts)Why? Hillary's good buddies own the MSM.

(17,865 posts)Why are you dragging your feet when the nominee is crystal clear?
This is how it's done - the rules and requirements didn't change - not even for St. Bernie.
SmittynMo
(3,544 posts)NOT crystal clear. I never claimed anything changed. It's quite simple. Super delegates vote on July 25. Not before, not after. What part don't YOU understand here?

(19,803 posts)the rest of the world is not going to sit around until Sanders gets the math.
The minute she hits the number the media is going to say PRESUMPTIVE nominee.
You can sit around until July 2016 or July 2017 the world will not cease to rotate.
The convention is formality.
If Mr. Sanders is NOT in it for himself and his glory he will lead the way to nominate HRC like she
did Barack Obama in 2008.
The way Mr. Sanders is burning his bridges he will be lucky anyone says good morning when he gets back to the senate.

(3,544 posts)It's making you delusional.
65 is an inaccurate number and is way off.
Just keep this in your mind. July 25. Nothing else matters. Be prepared.

(613 posts)The super delegates are not counted until the convention. They can change anytime up until then, but will not be counted until then.
This "math" is nothing but conjecture and fantasy, and a desperate attempt by the Clinton campaign and their media backers to short circuit due process.
Shameful.

(15,445 posts)as the "presumptive" nominee, and NOT the "official" nominee.
Not rocket science--just semantics.
Expect a tsunami of super commitments after the CA polls close on Tuesday.

(1,782 posts)The primaries are not over yet. California, the big enchilada still has to vote. Even counting superdelegates, it does not make sense to say now that Clinton will be the presumptive nominee then -- unless you are presuming to know how the vote in the June 7 primaries will go.
Surya Gayatri
(15,445 posts)Clinton will have the 65 delegates she needs to reach the requisite 2,383 with NJ alone--that's without counting CA at all.

(15,445 posts)2008 being the most recent case in point. The vast majority of the supers commit BEFORE the convention.
No conspiracy, no rigging.

(9,214 posts)many 2008 "pledged" super delegates switched from Hillary to candidate Obama BEFORE the convention.

Fun to dream though.
freedom fighter jh
(1,782 posts)Until then they can change their minds. Their votes have not happened yet. Without superdelegates' votes, Hillary is not so close to having the nomination clinched.
Is there any real chance that many superdelegates will change their minds? I certainly hope they will keep their minds open as more information about the candidates becomes available.

(9,214 posts)Trump gained enough delegates, there was no one to switch to. There are still two Democratic candidates and neither will likely have enough pledged delegates in the first round of voting at the convention.
Really no comparison at all.

(3,544 posts)went all in on HRC. Someone got to her. Prior to that, at least she liked Bernie. Ever since that date, NOT so much. I no longer listen to her bullshit. MSNBC has done a complete 180 degree turnaround. I'm very disappointed.
