For one thing, he wrote an amendment to Obamacare and got it passed, which provided millions of dollars of health care for poor people who would otherwise have "fallen between the cracks."of

And what do you suppose he was trying to accomplish making that speech? If Warren had made that speech, most of DU would be cheering it.

It's funny that some DUers fault one Senator for not doing more than the other 99, plus the House and the Oval Office, instead of wondering if the system is really working for anyone but plutocrats.

BTW, we're not supposed to keep fighting the primary. I doubt if, three years ago, anyone would have carped about Sanders making that speech.

I do have issues with his lack of results after 25 years in congress.
My comment has nothing to do with the primaries....and everything to do with long term congress members and results.

own it. The intent of your replies 1 and 4 could not be more obvious. You'd be better off if you either own it or just quietly "slink" on the issue.

Disingenuousness tends not to do anyone any favors, but can make someone look worse.

Bernie Sanders was mayor of Burlington for eight years, a Vermont Congressman for sixteen, has been a Senator for nine. He's done enough for the people who put him in those offices that they keep re-electing him.

You on the other hand, are some rando off the internet who is complaining about that same guy for no actual reason.

One of you has certainly accomplished much more, for more people, than the other has. And I'm going to put my money on the person who isn't currently engaged in some keyboard-assisted self-gratification on an internet messageboard.

Whether people pay attention or not is entirely up to them. Some people have a habit of taking facts and actively discarding them. Not much to be done in those circumstances.

Just keep shining a light where it needs to be shined, even if it rankles people.

World hunger is not exactly a congressional priority. It's more the purview of charitable organizations. Taking advantage of opportune moments to raise awareness is still doing something.

He has made a huuge effort over the years to call attention to very serious national and worldwide issues of inequality and even starvation.

How interesting that Sanders has been calling out the media for decades for its obsession with giving Trump a free platform to promote himself. Here's an article from MarketWatch that says Trump has gotten almost $3 BILLION in free advertising from the mainstream media in the past year.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump-has-gotten-nearly-3-billion-in-free-advertising-2016-05-06

This post is meant to be a celebration of Bernie. I celebrate all he has done to bring attention to the plight of poor people. I celebrate that he has consistently and clearly called out the American press for focusing on trivialities.

For the record, I like Hillary, and I think it's really ugly when we engage here in internecine warfare to try to make some point.

Something Trump said?

Some exchange on this forum or other?

You should know by now that especially for the Berners, this has never been about just Bernie, but about issues and policies. About expectations, about calculations and considerations, and records, and probabilities. So now that we are supposedly uniting, perhaps we can focus on those for a bit? Not rehash things that were said during the primaries? (Especially when that is a flagrant violation of the site's TOS?)

Fair enough?
