It is only October 4. the election isn't over, Assange is a publicity hound, the press is salivating, and this is looking to be an "it won't matter what it is, it matters what it'll look like" scenario. He could release something as late as November 1 and it could still make a difference. One thing is for sure: this arrogant prick implies that he is actively trying to influence the US general election, and, I believe, in trump's favor. Right now, Misplaced schadenfraude is dangerous. the now-ubiquitous social media has made this a different world from even 2012.
