...it very interesting.

I am a 65 yr old Caucasian woman. My spirit was lucky enough to be born into a body whose skin color is valued. I take no pride in my genetics but have been grateful for my accident of birth. I know how much easier my life has been because of it. My parents were educated, and from as early as I can remember, made it abundantly clear that I was going to go to college.

When I was only 8, I got lectured because I had a "Needs To Improve" in Show & Tell. I remember thinking that colleges probably were not going to care about my 3rd grade report card. My parents sure did, though.

Could I have become a master's degree prepared nurse practitioner had I been born to a 14 yr old girl from Cabrini Green? Maybe. Would it have been a hell of a lot harder. Most certainly.
