I met Pele twice in my life, once at the old Giants Stadium in the days of the Cosmos, and again at the Pele Soccer Camp in Purchase, NY. I was in my early teens. He seemed like a nice guy, and related pretty well to his fans.

Not gonna get into the Maradona/Messi comparisons - that's apples to oranges, as far as I'm concerned.

breath-taking skills of the 'galacticos' such as Pele. He is said to have had an unusually-wide, visual range around him. I don't know what the term is. Perhaps circumferential vision.

Watching these guys on YouTube, their visual awareness of their options and obstacles, their speed of thinking/decision-making, their subtle back-flcks, etc, ticked me to bits. Although I believe Messi is the best ever. He has all the skills and strengths to a consummate degree, and his speed over a few yards is said to be unmatched by Olympic sprinters ; and that with the ball at his feet.
As one player said, 'He's one of a kind.' And when a manager of an opposing team was asked why he hadn't joined in the celebrations, he replied, 'I'd just seen Messi warming up !'

Still I like some of the skills and tricks of the Belgian, Eden Hazard. Look his videos up on YouTube, any of you who are not soccer fans.
