In honor of the (imperiled) Civil Rights Act - signed 53 years ago today. (Original Post) sandensea Jul 2017 OP
And are we going to let smarmy little Chris Kobach and Hans von Spakowsky take rights away? Chasstev365 Jul 2017 #1
LBJ would say 'right on!' With all his flaws, it took brass balls to enact civil and voting rights. sandensea Jul 2017 #4

The Civil Rights Act of 64, the Voting Rights Act of 65, and the 24th Amendment must be protected from evil GOP operatives like the two mentioned above! RESIST!

As you know, losing a block of votes as gigantic as the 'solid South' is something few, if any, other presidents would have been willing to do no matter how important the cause. As LBJ himself put it: "we (Democrats) have lost the south for the next 20 years."

For the next 100, sadly it now seems.

I'll tell you though, I VERY MUCH regret not having posted something in honor of JFK - who would have been 100 this past May 29th.

When I realized it, a couple of days had passed. Perhaps I should have anyway.

One thing's for sure: he, Robert Kennedy, and LBJ, would definitely expect us to stay informed and, as you said, to stand up for their hard-fought gains.

tRump and his CON spokes-people are bundlers of historical facts and fictions.

They bundle a meager bit of a fact or two with a whole lot of fake stuffing.

Take for instance the ever-so-common one:

"The Dems are the ones who were the white-supremacists in the south before we came along."

etc, etc, etc.

The GOP's two specialties, it just so happens.
