(66 posts)My wife's father came to America from Slovenia when he was 16. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and made use of the GI Bill to open a successful business. We would like to go there sometime in the coming years to see where he came from......unfortunately, he is no longer with us. He loved sharing stories about his growing up in Slovenia.

(14,828 posts)was still part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. There was a large community of Slovenians in the small town they (and I) lived in...along the Mohawk River (Little Falls, NY) so many of them never learned to speak much english. I never got to hear their stories. Kinda sad.

(37,648 posts)Amazing. And very pretty.
Slovenia used to be owned by Russia?
Trump & Melania never go there, I think. He met her family only once, I think I read. Unless I misunderstood the article. I'd go there a lot, if I had a reason to go there. It's gorgeous. But Trump's a golfer, not much of a skier (altho I think he used to ski in his younger days).
I bet the air there is so clean and crisp. I'd love to go there.
