In his stunning interview with The New York Times, President Donald Trump said if Special Counsel investigates too deep into his finances that would be a 'red line.' Charlie Sykes & Eugene Robinson react.

(46,086 posts)Sounds Freudian to me, where the guilty confesses/admits guilt unwittingly but purposely.

(7,431 posts)Trumpy's a wimp in the very Russian sense. Trumpy cannot and will not execute those who oppose him. He loves Putin's wealth and power but can't muster the animus to follow Putin's tactics and just murder journalists and opposition politicans. Perhaps the institutional checks and balances within the US government's apparatus are too powerful to allow it. Whatever the reasons, Trumpy's ascension to near-dictatorial power is doomed to fail because he doesn't have to practical capacity to pull the triggers and fill up the mass graves. Trumpy has no problem with ethical or moral considerations. Those are laughable artifacts of another era, as far as Trumpy is concerned. It's the forces in opposition that still hold powerful sway over the preservation of the nation, and it's those forces that will decimate Trumpy's Putin-sponsored coup.

(967 posts)I figure this was a hail mary to try and stop Mueller or have a reason to fire him. Mueller is going to go forward with whatever he is doing regardless.
