No, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are not going to have a hand in impeaching Trump.
No, Trump will not spend a day in jail.
What came across loud and clear on Rachel's show last night...mainly because she kept driving this point home...is that the Manafort thing IS unprecedented. We really do not have a situation in recent history where this has happened.
1). The FBI picked the locks to get to his bedroom door.
2). They had full approval to do it, based on the risk that he would destroy evidence.
3). They told him he would be indicted. They didn't try to scare him with it. They told him it WAS going to happen.
And, it is now very public knowledge that the wire taps on Manafort very likely include conversations with Trump, at a time when Manaford was not "campaign manager," for two reasons...he'd been terminated, and there was no longer a "campaign."
If they have a recording of Trump offering Manafort a pardon in exchange for his silence, that IS obstruction.
It will be a more formal, less dramatic version of Ray Liotta's coke bust in "Goodfellas." The nice men in suits will go into a room with Trump and tell him in no uncertain terms "We've GOT you."
And they will cut a deal, and Trump will resign, because while people have said that his out-sized ego won't allow him to quit, he's also a snowflake and a coward who couldn't handle being brought up on charges under the media glare. He couldn't handle 24/7 coverage by every pundit he loathes reminding the world that he's being tried for crimes. He'd have one hell of a time convincing anyone that it was "fake news" (although I'm sure some portion of his base would walk with him into hell).
And Trump will go back to building golf courses and eating well-done steaks, 7 days a week, but not before declaring "victory."
With the Manafort developments, I think we're well past the point of wondering if Mueller "has anything."
It's just a matter of how he's putting the pieces together.
