I think the message of that song for me, anyway, is we're not backing down to the NRA for some drastic gun legislation that makes the people of this country safer. Why should anyone have to fear now of going to outdoor concert?

poor song choice (won't back down from whom or what? I don't think standing up to the NRA is the message he is trying to convey. something conveying our collective sadness and horror would have been more appropriate in my view).

singing flat.

Curious he chose that song when Sam Smith was the musical guest. Smith agreed to pay royalties to Petty and Jeff Lynne because his song, Stay With Me sounds like I Won't Back Down.
