They don't really know a lot for themselves. I've been around a lot of people like this in my lifetime, and I think the reason why racism and homophobia continue to persist is because they're easy. It's easy to not know people. It's easy to not think for yourself. The young ones I can have hope for, but the older ones are hopeless because their views have petrified.

They also seem to struggle for their answers. Almost as if they afraid to get the wrong answer. If they at least believed in what they were saying I would give them that but they don't. I can tell. They support Chick Fil A because of Jesus, the USA, anti gay marriage and the Bible says its wrong. Don;t ask for any more details or for them to explain. NO! They've given you their answers. Its because of USA and Jesus and the bible I said!

Notice these Chick Fil A's are mostly in Red States with high Conservative voters? Just sayin'.

Certainly some are born stupid and are never going to grow out of this. However, many of their kids are eventually going to start to talk to people who don't hate and they are going to realize their parents are bigots. After that, they will forever see their parents as small-minded individuals who they really don't want to associate.

In college, wasn't it?

Of course in some areas of the world gay people survive by pretending to dislike gays. Not everyone has the luxury of coming out with any reasonable expectation of safety.

They know why they are there and what they are supporting.

Most just don't have the balls to admit their position. Most likely because they know they are wrong.

This is an example of how the republicans win elections.

This is their base. Turnout is what they do best.

the reason isn't important to them.

because there is no Reason in their lives.

I feel sorry for them.

Except when I think about all the pain and suffering they cause through their willful Ignorance.

I kinda hope God does whisk them away in Rapture, so that we can reclaim Eden.

And be free from their original sin.

But I actually feel more pity than rage towards these people. None of them seem to be able to think critically, and they offered a number of contradictions. For example, there's the guy who said that marriage should remain between a man and a woman only, yet he says he doesn't want one set of beliefs to be forced on to the government. Also, I noticed a pattern where each person's beliefs were based solely on what they were TOLD to think. It's really alarming when there are this many people in America who can't think for themselves and analyze all the facts. I'm not sure if it's the education system or what, but something is amiss.

because this is exactly what I would expect from a crowd like this. There were many young people at this thing and that gives me hope because when I was that age I would have felt the same way they do and here I am many years later, much more enlightened, I believe, and 180 degrees from where I once was on this issue.

but I feel that calling people "stupid", "idiot", etc. does not really help things if you are trying to enlighten them. Name calling just leads leads to a shutdown of communication. It is the Fox News/Andrew Breitbart way of non-communication, which they hope would escalate to a physical altercation of some sort.

Don't become the thing that you hate in the midst of ignorance.

because there sound is so bad I can't understand half of what's being said. The background noise drowns everything out.

I get the point though- It's the 2012 version of the Ohio/Pennsylvania Teabagger rallies where they all said they wouldn't vote for Obama because he's black. And equally shameful.

realize that there are other Americans who don't feel this way. I would always shut them up with, " Ok, if we have prayer in public schools, then you would not mind your child's first grade teacher to teach them to pray to Satan. What if he/she believes in the Devil? Oh, they have to only pray to the Christian God! What about Freedom of religion in the Costitution, should we get rid of that?". It usually forces them to think it through. I then suggest that maybe public school should be about reading, writing and arithmetic, and you are free to worship your God in church. We need to get better at manipulating the masses, sounds bad but that is what it comes down to. You have to keep showing them what is happening and how it affects THEM! You cannot get caught up in R's or D's or the guns, abortion, gay marriage stuff or they go to their default positions on these issues. I have found that Wall Street is good to explain what is affecting them. I have opened the eyes of many an Repug this way. They do not change their stripes altogether, not all at once anyway, I just get them to follow the $.

of course closeted gay employees, of Chik Fil A commenting on what their customers said to them on Appreciation Day. These consumers ASSUMED that Chik Fil A's employees were all good, straight, and Christian. NONE of these workers interviewed would give their names for fear of being FIRED.

I really hope these employees, and other Non-Christian employees, find a different employer where they don't have to be subject to their employer's, or their customers, bigotry.
