While my older brothers loved Elvis, I loved the likes of Fats Domino and Buddy Holly.

Domino's music was so real.

My favorite was 'Walking to New Orleans'

"Blueberry Hill" came on as we were entering. We were frozen in a time I will never forget. Late to class again.

If THIS doesn't get you jumping and shaking, you need to see a neurologist:

But my toe tapping and desk drumming still work fairly well. And my face is gonna hurt for days from the big grin I can't wipe away.

Thanks for this.

but then saw a news report of him being rescued and taken to safety by Coast Guard and helicopter ride.

He did a benefit concert shortly after Katrina which was great. However, I can't find it online but will post when I do. Fats was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Bill Clinton but it was lost in Katrina Hurricane. Bush ("W&quot later replaced by it though.

I've been listening to "Fats And Friends" over, and over, and over -- you can tell they had a ball.

R.I.P. Fats Domino -- you left us with lots of memories and great music.
