Missile Defenseless: Poland slams US power play, plans own shield

Poland could make a break from its military protectors in the US, with the country's President suggesting the development of a missile defence shield all of its own. The Polish leader said a deal to allow parts of America's planned system on its territory left security at the mercy of policy shifts in Washington.


I honestly can't think of one reason for the US government to waste so much money by expanding its military policies to include involving itself in the affairs of Poland let alone any European country.

In addition, I wonder how much more resentment towards the US is being generated because of said policy.

2. We made an awful mistake when the Soviet Union collapsed

that was the time to get out of Europe and not expand NATO to Russia's doorstep. We did exactly the wrong thing. In that we severely damaged a potential working relationship with Russia and continued the tension which no longer needed to exist. We also spent trillions to defend people who are more prosperous than ourselves. It was idiotic, stupid, insane.

I can't imagine him doing anything other than pressing for an expansion of US influence into the former Warsaw pact nations.

Like Condi Rice, he saw it as an opportunity to press for advantage.
