To expand both money and power for the GOP, they need to get votes anyway they can. They will demonize every potential Democratic leaning politician, while letting their own party have infinite "mulligans" and "do overs". They will claim backing from God and buy off religious Charlatan leaders to influence their religious members. Now, it appears, they have actively sought help from the Russians, a country only a few years ago, their same voters were commanded to hate.
