Fears that syndicated hosts Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity could displace mainstay John Gambling, WOR (710 AM), New Yorks oldest radio station and one of its last remaining independents, will be purchased by radio goliath Clear Channel.
The news jolted the local radio community, leading to a blizzard of speculation on whether the new owners might at some point bring their syndicated hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity over from WABC.

(384 posts)where I didn't have TV, I had radio late at night.
I listened to WOR from NYC, because all the other stations were just ugly or had gone off the air by midnight.
I loved that station as a teenager.

(32,016 posts)given Gambling is a conservative, so is Mike Gallagher, and WOR also carries (the first 2 hours of) Michael Savage. WOR also was the flagship of Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck (but dropped Beck in 2011). Garbage in, garbage out!
