(14,093 posts)Roseanne has done more than merely support Trump. She's pushed the nuttiest of conspiracy theories, from Pizzagate to a debunked smear that Fareed Zakaria said he wanted to rape white women (because he's one of them muzzzlims, you know).
Her Twitter feed over the past two years has been a clearinghouse for bigotry, full of retweets of lies and idiocy from Alex Jones, Roger Stone and James Woods. This is in addition to rampant racism and transphobia on Barr's part.
It got so bad, ABC had her scrub the account before the show's launch.
Now she's trying to claim she's a sensible middle-of-the-roader and everyone else went left. And Goodman acted like she was nothing more than your typical right-leaning family member.
It's utter bullshit and ABC is covering for her. Fuck Kimmel for going along with it. And fuck Goodman, Gilbert and Metcalf for helping this bigot to make a comeback.

(2,894 posts)Maybe Metcalf, Goodman and Gilbert are still grateful for the start they got with the show? But we certainly don't need any more 'normalizing' of that grotesque travesty occupying the White House or the pathetic deplorables who support him.
I haven't followed her at all and had no idea (until recently) that she'd gone so dark.

(89,247 posts)Yet she supported trump when he picked pence.
She tried to make it like she was just opposed to removing him because pence would be worse.

(2,795 posts)Last Man Standing. All of the deplorables loved that show and claimed it was taken off the air because it was pro trump and conservative. No. It's because deplorables are not a big enough, target demographic and the ratings were bad.
Roseanne could make the same mistake and off goes her show. It will only be successful if it's handled like All in the Family. Opposing views but the bigot and idiot is shown glaringly how bigoted and idiotic they are. Not sure the Roseanne show will do that.

(27,803 posts)I always vaguely knew Tim Allen was conservative, but I didn't ever see it in his work (not "Home Improvement" and definitely not in the Santa Clause movies, which I like). But then suddenly he started peppering the show with caustic (and unfunny) remarks about Obama, and featuring the daughter who dressed in camo and liked to shoot guns. It was weird. I liked the show at first and then I had to stop watching it.

(10,163 posts)I use to find her show funny and enjoyed the great actors she surrounded herself with. But my better half hated her. She never gave me a logical reason why she disliked Roseanne, so I watched her show anyway.
Now, you couldn't pay me to watch her, despite having some good actors on her show. I should have listen to my wife in the first place.

(6,974 posts)Watching her show back in the 1990's and since she's bat shit crazy now, and a tRump-humper, I surely won't be watching her show now.

(3,282 posts)Though he did manage to get one little poke in at Roseanne, there!
I love Goodman, and based on the company he keeps (Aaron Sorkin, most notably, in two of his shows), I feel like he must have at least left-of-centre leanings. But I don't 100% know.

(12,618 posts)She's a has been trying to stay relevant.
I've been watching the new X Files episodes, and while a few of them are very good, overall the show just doesn't pack the same punch that it did in the 90's. It feels old and worn out, and I find I no longer care about what's really happening in it. I really don't care about what 'the truth" is. They've switched it up and played so many games with it that it's kind of like, "whatever" at this point.
If I was a betting man, I would bet that the same thing will happen to Roseanne. It was a formula that worked great for its time, but I bet that modern audiences will have a hard time relating to it. I know that I personally will not watch any show that portrays Trumpism as being normal, and I highly doubt I'm alone. That's the reality of America today.

(14,173 posts)that BOTH sides are right, and both are wrong. That we should all just get along. One problem with that....one side stole the majority of power with the help of an enemy foreign government, and controls every pillar of government plus a stolen SCOTUS seat. THEN you turn to the victim and say "you mad bro?"
Its like a sibling cheats by sneaking into their sisters room and steals all their Halloween candy, and then says, 'why are you so mad? Lets just both be civil. Lets have a show where we both have points to make equally, but I get to keep all the candy, oh, and I get paid more as well, and oh, also have final say in every scene.

(11,563 posts)Maybe she's trying to get forgiveness from those who found her (admittedly grotesque) version of the anthem before a ball game to be a form of desecration.
For the record, I found that rendition a decision that was more than just very questionable, but I viewed it as a failed joke.
