But did you know that Spanky McFarland was later brought into the Momma's and Poppa's to replace Cass Elliot after she died. She choked to death while eating a ham sandwich in bed. The group was called "The New Momma's and Poppa's". It didn't last long.

She died of heart failure. There was no food in her windpipe.

Keith Moon did die in the same room of the same flat where Cass died, four years later.

Spanky and Our Gang was an American 1960s sunshine pop band led by Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane. The band derives its name from Hal Roach's popular Our Gang comedies of the 1930s because of the similarity of her surname with that of George McFarland (Spanky).
