(12,882 posts)public drinking fountains and pay phones anymore. SO - if these lazy-assed "homeless" would just get a job or, or, or just go away - problem solved! Whatcha wanna bet, darling Kelly has her own personal potty adjacent to her office?
How long before we see refugee camps for America's homeless? That's where this country is headed. There's gobs of "flyover" acreage that could be used for them to live on. Provide tents, shovels (for digging their own toilets) and dumpster contents for them to live off of.
Here in this blood red district of California, homeless camps spring up just outside the city line - some even with the landowner's blessings. But let there be 4 or 5 tents and a fairly cohesive community of the disenfranchised start to band together and here come the county law enforcers to disperse (and offer refuge in some church-based shelter) the residents to "someplace else". Anywhere but where their visibility smears the facade of a thriving community.
I keep asking myself: Where ARE our supposed representatives on the subject of poverty? There's only been a couple of public servants who've even DARED to utter the word "poor" - let alone propose REAL fixes for poverty. Of course, being poor keeps one from "buying" into the "systems" of representation. So, poor they will remain.

(1,325 posts)Megyn said that Santa Claus was white and the Jesus was white and we should just get over it - whatever that means. Denying people the use of a restroom is soooo Christian these days. What a shrew!!!!!

(4,483 posts)is it any skin off Megyn Kelly's ass if Starbucks lets non-customers use their restrooms? Why does she care? She talks about the policy being "lambasted," but she's the only conspicuous voice I've heard objecting to it. Nobody's forcing her to put her sterling silver butt on a toilet seat that maybe a homeless person used. Remember, Megyn, you can't get crabs from a toilet seat.

(24,688 posts)you do fucking realize, that at some point the homeless paid for the infrastructure and the tax relief that Starbucks enjoys right.......................when they had a job, that you use to rant about because they got to much, you know benefits and wages.
I really do believe, that yes, Starbucks should put up a notice that you and your right wing ilk are not wanted in there stores, after all they can by law refuse to serve you, because you treat your hair, for example, or you wear black pants ....................so go to fucking trump tower and get some coffee, and see what the traitor says to you, or did you forget that also...................you know how compassionate conservatives are..................not.........
Go back under your right wing rock........................

Megyn Kelly's fear of the homeless is unfortunate...
I am sensitive to this issue as I worked for the past 12 years traveling (in my car everyday) and often had to find bathrooms to use... our society has pretty much quit supplying public restrooms and let retailers provide that service... one can buy only so much coffee/food/etc
I remember one day waiting for a restroom (probably at a McDonalds or such) and the person before me was taking a rather long time... when he came out, I realized he was most likely homeless and he had been cleaning/washing up... far be it from me to have been offended... I was glad he had somewhere to go

A pretty face and tawdry clothes does not play as well to a mainstream, diverse audience as it does to the monochromatic gargoyles that watched her at Fox dreaming about touching her like Trump would (in their minds)...

(10,749 posts)I don't either, except for the past four years that I have volunteered at our local homeless shelter.
Coffee shops and fast food places are safe spots for homeless people. But, you know something, many of those homeless people are buying something - coffee, a sandwich. Sure, they are then hanging out, making that cup of coffee last longer than others might who have somewhere else to go. How long they stay depends on their reading of the community, the shop, and their behavior. One shop in my town treats every customer, including homeless people, as if their business depends on them. They treat them with respect, offering free coffee as needed, and allowing paying customers to fund the free coffee fund or to give their own free coffees to homeless people. Sure, some people will abuse that situation, but they also know that, even if they are invisible to most of the community, the coffee shop and library people know who's who and what's what, and they - the homeless - will not risk abusing the respect that some shopkeepers give them, whether it's to get out of the rain or snow or cold for a bit or to use the bathroom. Again, I will grant that there are those who will abuse that, even to the extent of taking drugs, but most won't - well, at least in my small town. I guess what I'm getting at is that these so-called hordes of homeless people will reach an equilibrium with coffee shops and diners and libraries and other spots where they can get a break from the relentless boredom and damn near constant movement that they are subjected to.
I know that's a bit of a ramble, but where does Kelly and her ilk expect the homeless to go? Is she going to fund community centers? Is she going to support government funding of such services? No, of course not, even with her 8 figure annual contract. Well, fuck you Megyn Kelly and those like you.

(34,428 posts)She is paid more than Tamron and Al, despite their BETTER ratings. Shes been given long enough to find her audience. NBC should send her packing.
