I've followed NASCAR and every other form of racing. I'm not a cretin. Dale Jr. is not a cretin. NASCAR has done some really dumb things. Officially supporting Trump is already costing them. Some of the finest people I've known were from racing. Some are also Jerks. Some NASCAR legends supported Obama. Soft pedal that crap or lose your credibility.

I worked for NASCAR for 7 years. Got a real good idea of how they felt about Obama etc. But, you go on and follow the round and round. I don't need to soft pedal anything. You take care of you.

I don't believe that. I've got major bones to pick with NASCAR. But not all fans are cretins.

For every one good guy theres 20 bad(?) ones. it was common knowledge on the tracks I worked that Democrats were scum and the GOP were superheroes. Especially during the Bush Admin. Glad you enjoy it. I made it work for me....by never telling anyone who I voted for. I wouldn't have lasted. I'm not just saying that. Sorry if that bursts your bubble re. this discussion. Confederate flags...beer by the boxcar...and bullies w tattoos. That was my experience.
I liked Carl the best.

That knew Paul Newman and posted his experience in the pit with him...said he'd never met anyone nicer.

But yep, I know some NASCAR fans, being from Tennessee. Cretins is an apt description for most of them.

I dislike Texas with a passion. I've driven through it several times...six at least, from end to end. I did my military service in Texas for one year back in 1970. "Goat ropers" was our description of the loony Texan stereotype; but there are many, many good people there (surround by many, many hypocritical haters who pound their bibles and fill those Sunday pews to assure their spot in the "promised land&quot . The same is true for the South...the red states

Point is there are good, decent people everywhere. Sometimes the majority, and sometimes a scant minority; but blanket damning of a state, a region, a group of people only adds to alienate us. I'm guilty of this too...but we need to be measured in our criticism. Last thing we want to do insult those who are fighting the good fight. They need our support and respect. They are carrying the heavier load. NASCAR isn't my thing, but my thing probably isn't your thing either. I detest golf on tv, but some folks live for it.

You know this already...so I'm preaching to the choir.

But you're wasting your time with this cadre. They don't give two shits about Democrats and I personally never saw Pres Obama at a race. Being kind to a general group that would just as easily tie you to the bumper and drag you around isn't my idea of cogent kindness "placement". Some folks (a majority in that clan) WON'T be reached. If you've sent a few days in any infield at a nascar event....you may get a better feeling for the vibes. You can love em to death, and they still hate you as a Democrat. Been that way since the 80s. I'm intimately aware of the track life. Thanks.
