Thanks for this post. Never has a losing side been so able to rewrite public consciousness about an historical event for a cause which was - to quote Ulysses Grant - “one of rhe worst for which a people fought , and one for which there was the least excuse.” Despite that, they were able to rewrite histroy with “alternate facts”, message framing and deleivery, and energy. I see alot of parallels with the political situation today, where the Pub’s push alternate facts and are masters of message framing. We need to be constantly vigilant, loud and consistent at getting a simple message out to the people - especially at the local level - or we risk letting the Pub’s control the narrative.

4. In downtown Dallas three weeks ago...

Pioneer Cemetery has a heck of a Confederate monument there. Chaplains who would later pastor prominent churches.
