At least we can laugh at ourselves
This Thanksgiving I'm thankful that I'm not a snowflake fundie con who lack the humour gene and that thinks saying "happy holidays" is sacrilegious. Those who worship even more than their Lord and saviour, an ultra whiner, foul mouthed, racist, sexist, boor and self adoring creten.
Even though our side has to fight against big(ger) money, cheating to win, voter suppression, Electoral College, vastly unproportional representation between people per square mile across the nation, Also the other sides complete denial of cooperation, unless they are ever the minority party, and even then that is mostly talk unless they get what they want too.
One of our biggest "problems" is that we really just want to be able to, once in awhile, take our guard down, and laugh a little. You know, actual life. As we did with Obama many times when the cameras caught him with his family or in other good natured interactions with others. The nation, and other nations for that matter, could also sigh and relax a bit.
That is our strength and our weakness. The Right is ALWAYS on high alert. Its a constant red flashing light when they hold the Presidency and majorities, and even when they don't, its glowing just under the surface ready to explode. While they work quietly rejigging districts, and dropping voters for the next election. Nothing is a joke to them. Its a constant battle for more power, more money for mostly themselves personally. They convince themselves that in building such personal capital they are promoting what the good old USA stands for. The highest form of a patriot. I'm sure that Trump defines the word that way. But he's not the only one. From McConnell right down to Collens.
So its sad in a way that we have to put on hold living in a country that can let its guard down and relax. But now is the time. There cant be anything called "Trump fatigue' that can stop us from the fight, the resistance ahead. This isn't over by a long shot.
