Why Boof Boy may not be the SCOTUS "ringer" if Trump is subpoenaed by Mueller (Original Post) Miles Archer Nov 2018 OP

He doesn't say that the ringer may not actually be a ringer.

The man says that the Chief Justice is willing to "scrap" with Trump, though. But...all the Justices have equal weight in decisions. A ringer is a ringer. It's to be expected that some other Justices will disagree. So this man is saying that it may be important that another Republican may disagree w/Trump's position on subpoenas.

I do believe that there is at least one ringer, there, who will not rule according to the law, like most of the others. Kavanaugh was put there for the purpose of ruling for Trump's position as regards subpoenas and investigations and "this Rusher thing."

I do not think Kavenaugh is one of them, but Gorsuch just might be. We have heard nothing from him.

He's been deciding cases along w/the other Justices. He's reliably one of the new Republicans, like Alito & Thomas & Kavanaugh.

Trump wouldn't pick anyone he would think would not be loyal to him. And you can bet he asked, just like he asked Comey.

Of course he is. Trump picked him.

•He joined a partial dissent by Justices Thomas and Samuel Alito, arguing that the court should have allowed Trump to enforce his entire ban on U.S. entry by residents of six nations with almost entirely Muslim populations. The other six justices allowed enforcement of a ban against entrants with no connections to people or institutions in the United States while the case is pending.

•He joined a dissent by Thomas from the court’s refusal to take up a challenge to a California law requiring a local law enforcement permit to carry a concealed handgun in public. Thomas said the law degrades the constitutional right to bear arms.

•Gorsuch wrote a dissent, joined by Thomas and Alito, from a ruling that requires Arkansas to list both the birth mother and her lesbian wife as parents on their child’s birth certificate. Gorsuch said the court should not prohibit Arkansas from allowing only a child’s biological parents to be named on the birth certificate, to keep track of possible genetic disorders and disputes over citizenship.

•He wrote a concurring opinion, joined by Thomas, in the court’s 7-2 ruling allowing a religious school in Missouri to receive state funds to pave its playground. In what he described as a “modest” suggestion, Gorsuch said the court should have made it clearer that the ruling applies not merely to cases involving schools or children’s safety, but to any “discrimination against religious exercise — whether on the playground or anywhere else.”

Pratheepan Gulasekaram, an immigration law professor at Santa Clara University, said Gorsuch’s apparent willingness to defer to executive authority in the travel-ban case may be a sign of his positions in future immigration cases.

I read today that, along with Law Scholars like Laurence Tribe Progressives are taking a look at some changes to the Court. We had 10 during the Civil War.

Even life time appointments where they serve 40 or more years.

We would need to have majority in both the House and the Senate, though.

Maybe after 2020?

Sounds like it's almost more worthwhile to just wait until he's no longer the serving president since it could be tied up in court for years.

I'd put my money on him vanishing in a cloud of suitcases once he's free of any kind of official legal "protection" to avoid the avalanche of lawsuits and complaints. He'll go live in in exile in Russia or Saudi Arabia, though South America would be poetic justice.

Or he can go bunk with Assange in Ecuador if he's still there!

but I have no illusions about what Kavanaugh will do when he's actually in the position of deciding things. He already telegraphed that loud and clear during his rebuttal session after Dr. Ford's testimony.
