Mueller: "General you spent most of your life uniform serving with honor. You later fell in with some very bad people and your actions ended up hurting this country greatly. You ended up vulnerable to blackmail by a foreign hostile power. You can restore some of your honor by telling the truth."

And because Flynn still had a VERY small amount of decency left he told the truth. He wasn't going to go to jail for Trump.
