What if the news media actually reported stories like this?EDITORS NOTE: While they have way too much in common, the actual Taliban uses political violence to achieve its ends and the Tea Party doesnt and thats an important distinction.

(9,895 posts)The Newsroom is the best TV show I have watched in at least the last 5 years. I usually stay away from scripted TV series because they are generally crap and not worth the time it takes to watch them, but I saw the clip of Jeff Daniels' character giving the speech/response about why America is NOT the greatest country in the world anymore and I was hooked.
I am here at DU posting this reply and obviously I am predisposed to progressive leaning politics, but this show illustrates a lot of what many of us have said for years - THE FACTS HAVE A LIBERAL BIAS! I have seen many people tear into this show (critics and the like) for a lot of trumped up reasons, but the one thing that they seem to not like about it is that its "too politically slanted". Of course, consider the source for the discord - the multinational, corporate conglomerate media and their attack dogs and hatchet men who promote false equivalency at every possible moment!
The writing by Sorkin is among his best, the acting by Daniels is believable and the show is captivating and off to a promising start....the only thing I do not like about it is that Season One is over (at only 10 episodes) and there won't be any new episodes until June of 2013! In the meantime, I stand with those who would like to see more attention given to the FACTS of the issues and less false equivalency and less nonsense about how stations like CNN or MSNBC are "just the opposite of Fox". We have a serious media problem in this country (far worse than the rest of the world) and until the problem is dragged fully into the light and exposed, it is only going to get exponentially worse.
I hope that Season Two builds on the promise of Season One and I also hope that they do two other things - extend the season from 10 to 20 episodes and shoot Season Two and Three concurrently to bring us up to within six months of the air dates for the major issue of each episode...and PLEASE do not be tempted to drag out the Don-Maggie-Lisa-Jim stuff...resolve it and move on because that COULD get to a point of distraction from the rest of the show otherwise.

(20,018 posts)I would say that liberals have a factual bias.
If you care about everyone and want to help, then you NEED to know the facts.
Whereas the other side -- steeped in superstitious (and racist) nonsense -- doesn't really even believe that facts exist.
At least they're not going to let facts ruin their campaign ... they've said so.
