Has so stained the United States and enabled a hideous evil among its men in power positions from border patrol monsters who kick over jugs of life saving water, “cage” monitors and detention operators to those wretched pieces of human crap stuffed into suits and ties in government offices
and the foulest ghoul to ever sit in the Oval Office, I don’t know how we can easily recover as a nation.
The Cretin and all the slimeball creatures around him have sucked layers of decency from this country.
There is a dead air, mean and pervasive undercurrent of cruelty and hate that is fouling the joy of everything, everywhere. Even among everyday situations far removed from political trenches, the ripple effect of these soul dead vermin is causing an underlying aura of ugliness I’ve Never experienced before.
It’s hacked its way into the air we all breathe. Not one day of calm since the election. A constant battering ram of causes and diversions and Reality Show shitstorms.
I face and greet hundreds of people every day in my job in a community non-profit organization, in a Blue city as diverse in age, backgrounds, beliefs and ethnic blend as you can imagine-within a worrisome, still Too Red State. The lingering aura of (mostly) unspoken worry, concern or fear is very real. Some people just roll their eyes, shake their heads. Some can still keep a cautious sense of humor. Some are containing a focused, positivity-tinged anger. Some are embracing the enabled asshole attitudes. Some have that lowered-eye sadness. And there is always The Stupid to deal with. It’s real. All of it.
Have we reached the bottom yet? Will the power of hope start refreshing the sullied air? Yessss(?) it’s started with the Blue wave? Maybe today? Another dozen indictments to make the Yuletide merrier? More Mueller Magnificence? The return of ACCOUNTABILITY?
I give myself pep talks and butt kicks everyday to fight the “dark side”. And some days it wears me the hell out before I walk out the door. I don’t like what creeps into my psyche at times. (Can you defeat hate with hate??? I dunno. But I have to come to terms with that)
I come here daily for...comraderie...solace...encouragement... enlightenment...anger...strength...frustration... motivation. The turning point SEEMS close every single day.
We, someone, every sane person, damned well better make it happen sooner. We can’t accept this as the new normal. And that normal line has been creeping up on us. But it has to happen sooner.
Before more 7 year olds die on busses in their parents arms.
