8. Whenever I see videos or pictures of Obama with groups of people,

I'm constantly struck by the look of joy on the faces of African Americans.

I'm a white person, and I'm used to the default white thing. I know I cannot have any idea what it's like to grow up rarely seeing people like me in public office, on TV, in movies. It seems as if Obama makes up in many ways for the huge lack of persons of color in the public sphere. You can see it in this video.

And he doesn't seem ever to play the race card. He's simply comfortable in his own skin, and he knows what that skin looks like.

Oh, and he's incredible with children, especially very young ones.
