IMHO, season 1 was great, but season 2 started to decline about half way through. jg10003 May 2019 #3

Wish that ABC kept it. I don't "do" Netflix, not Hulu, nor the rest of the streaming. My cable bill is high enough as it is.

Not blaming Keifer per say, he's just an actor, but he accepted the role. 24 promoted the 'fake news' that torture works. Promoted the fake news that not only does torture work, but that almost every terrorist situation is a "ticking time bomb" situation, where poor innocent Americans, kids included, will die a horrible death if he didn't get his torture kit out.

And on top of that the big bad gub-mint (probably a damn Democrat!) would be angry with him if he was caught torturing, so he had to do it covertly so as not to trigger the snowflakes in Washington.

Add to that all the terrorists were foreigners, or working for foreigners, almost all middle eastern. Who were of such weak character, that they will give up all their beliefs, after 5 minutes with Jack

I think that show helped stoke xenophobia after 9/11, when the nation was the most vulnerable. And at the same time promoted the false assumption that torture works. It was a gift to warmongering Republicans (and a few Democrats). Who could always use that sustained fear that show accomplished, to keep stoking fear and blasting Democrats for not being as tough on terror as they would be, (like Jack)
