Melanie & Jerry Hall are married to powerful men with money. The men hold all the power. No doubt there are prenup agreements involved. They're not likely to walk away from the money spigot. They aren't political and don't care about politics, or they wouldn't have married these vile men, to begin with.
They also don't hold much power over their husbands. Their husbands have had multiple wives who are alike in one respect: they don't try to interfere in the man's "business." The men married them because they're airheads without strong convictions, who love to go shopping and live the good life. It's a partnership where both of their needs are met.
The old men aren't going to kick out their arm candy, and the women aren't going to leave their money spigot.
Their marriages are more of a business agreement than a real marriage. Here's this old man with money but no physical attractiveness or body, who wants the appearance of being virile again (and maybe an occasional sex act - thank you, Viagra), and who likes having a partner in life, someone to go to events and dinner with, who deals with the household staff and the kids. Then there is a much younger babe with looks & sex appeal who wants not to have to worry about money and who can get her status elevated. So they make an arrangement. All the babe cares about is the money and status. Not how he gets it (altho I assume there must be some line).
