(28,094 posts)Bill Maher & his writers knocked this one out of the park!
His walk thru of recent history rivals one of Rachel's. Chris Matthews, who's friends with Bill Maher (go figure), should play this on his show. Heck, nightly news should play it as an antidote to Fux lies.
Thanks for posting these Rhiannon.

(202,970 posts)He usually has a "funny bit" during the show that I like a lot, but I guess they didn't have time this week. But there were still some laughs as well as the great New Rules!

(19 posts)Sometimes he's so right on and really funny. But he can be such a dick. I guess he's human too.

Behind the Aegis
(53,823 posts)I can always find problems with Maher, but honestly, I love all the people whining about the show EVERY fucking week. makes me laugh. Prager was an obnoxious POS, but anyone even remotely familiar with him knows this.

(202,970 posts)The token RWers he has on are bad enough, but Prager was pretty overbearing. But that doesn't mean I hate the show, I look forward to hearing his take on the week's news and there are always laughs to be had.
Behind the Aegis
(53,823 posts)The thing is having shitheads like him on gives a look into a diseased psyche that some only pretend to understand and can't fully look upon. I just get personally irritated by those who treat this show as if it is a news source, which actually give platforms to assholes like Prager. There is an old saying, "Know thine enemy." Unfortunately, the right has figured that out, but some on left are sadly lacking. Politics today has become nothing but narrative and we are losing.

(202,970 posts)I guess I'm used to the token RWer getting more pushback, but only Rick Stengel really seemed to take him on - and I hate when it degenerates into loud arguing. Years ago, my mother watched political talk shows and I made myself scarce when she was watching those "yelling shows," LOL. And we do see "the other side" on the news every day, but it's usually just footage and we don't engage them. I was hoping that they'd show Prager's face during "New Rules."

(63,221 posts)He was the best part of the show. The other guests were good as well, but it's too bad they had to waste so much of their time shouting down the odious Dennis Prager, who was an absolute nightmare. Why does Bill bother with these extreme right-wingers? They suck all the oxygen out of the room and prevent an interesting conversation from happening because the other guests can't get a word in edgewise.
Anyway, thanks for posting Rhiannon!

(202,970 posts)The only part that was tough to watch was when Dennis Prager insisted on shouting down the other guests, though Rick Stengel made the best stab at it. Like Behind the Aegis said, I'm guessing Bill doesn't want his show to be seen as an echo chamber, but his audience doesn't appreciate the RW guests and it does get old mighty quick.
