I saw V.R. about a year before he died. He gave a concert and narrative in a small venue in Long Valley, N.J. "The Pope of Grenwich Village.

recording of Both Sides Now. Then listen to the one she recorded for the film Love Actually. A lifetime of living in her voice alone. So rich and nuanced.

What a treat to hear Joni Anderson sing and play!

Ten years later, she had reached the very top, being accompanied here by Bob Dylan and Roger McGuinn.

"A prisoner of the white lines on the freeway..." One of my favourite lyrics.

Happy birthday, Joni! May there be many more!
