(63,221 posts)This is the usual republican tactic. Find a scapegoat - preferably a minority - to distract the public from the fact that you are incompetent and majorly screwing them over.
Ugh! I just hate him with such a passion!
How are you holding up, Rhiannon?

(205,164 posts)As for me, I still have sinus issues so I've been sleeping a lot. I should be grateful for the downtime, but even though it's only been a couple of days for me, it already feels like it's been weeks. And it doesn't help that now we have all this time to focus on all we have to worry about.
I am grateful though, that both Trevor and Stephen Colbert are going above and beyond to still give us something to laugh about. How are you doing in the city? So many things are closing around here and the stores have bare shelves like everywhere else, but I'm still disheartened at how many people are still not paying attention.

(63,221 posts)I seem to have allergies or the remnants of my winter cold, so while it is not debilitating in any way, it's still just kind of annoying and makes me worry that I might be vulnerable. I know what you mean about feeling like it has been weeks. We have only been out of work since last Friday but it seems like forever. There are definitely things I like about not going into the office, such as the whole morning routine, but this could get kind of old pretty quick.
I am also really grateful for the comedians who are still doing their best to keep our spirits up during these trying times. It really impresses me that they are going above and beyond. We need their humor now more than ever! Life in the city is strange. Not a lot of people around, at least in my neighborhood - mostly just people out walking their dogs. I have tried to order more groceries but my usual places have stopped delivering or their slots are sold out for a week or longer so a friend is going to drive me out to Wegmans in Newton on Friday to stock up. I'm not completely paranoid just yet, but plan to get a lot of non-perishables (rice, beans, pasta, lentils, frozen veggies, etc.) just to feel secure. Oh, and some TP, since I only have 4 rolls because I haven't been able to find any.
I think it's the breakdown in goods and services that almost scares me more than the virus. It's probably even harder for you since you are in a more remote area and the supply chain disruption is affecting you more than it does us. It all just feels kind of surreal. And I agree with you, there are still too many people who are not taking this seriously.
I haven't left my apartment, except to go to the lobby or the basement for packages/mail, and I am only going to the grocery store on Friday because I am desperate for groceries and supplies. I have very little storage space, so not much backup. I feel like if I keep my distance and use precaution, a trip to the store shouldn't be that much of a risk, since they are allowing the elderly to shop during the morning hours before they let the rest of us in.
Anyway, I hope you feel better soon! Stay safe and feel free to drop me an IM if you get bored, scared or just want to chat!
