2008 the company called the Union in for a meeting. The union was told we had lost every single future order overnight
and all the work we had left was orders already in process and supplying steel for the finished construction products we
produced ourselves. We limped along until the end of December 2008 when the company informed us that they would permanently
shut down March 31 of 2009. On March 31, 2009 we shut down our furnaces. They called me back to work one week in
mid April 2009 to help clean up and secure the plant. I drew unemployment for 1 year and officially retired May 1 ,2010 at 62.

This is going affect all manufacturing along with everything connected to the travel industry, restaurants, retail, the energy
industry is going to take a big hit. In addition we are stuck at least for now with a president that doesn't have a clue what
he is doing. I think this is going to make the Great Recession look like a minor slowdown.

If they focus largely only on helping the corporations with only some bread crumbs thrown our way then things will be nasty if however they focus on helping the people more rather then the corporations with money and assistance and do so quickly enough it might be over rather quickly.
By that I mean imagine if they gave everyone say that is either unemployed, underemployed and those that are employed but earning less than 60k a year a check for 5k? A lot of people would then spend that money and it would be almost instantly out there doing something as people bought groceries or paid their bills and that keeps the wheels spinning.
Giving the money to a corporation though and you will have trouble as they will sit on it and be glacial in what they do and even then they might decide to ship more jobs overseas still even after they are helped out of the mess they are in.

not one of them voted for the stimulus that pulled us out. They even made them take signs
down that said a project was from the Stimulus. They were willing to let the country
crash rather than help. I fear the Democrats are going to give this SOB everything he wants
and help him get re-elected.
