He wrote a book on evil, which he defined as thoughtlessness. For example, in his book, People of the Lie, he tells a story of a kid whose parents bought him a gun for his birthday. The kid gets depressed and kills himself, and the parents turn around and give the SAME GUN as a gift to the younger brother of the kid who killed himself. The thoughtlessness, or lack of empathy, in this action, said Peck, is true evil.

2 million is on the lower end of my estimates. But understand we still don't have good numbers because we don't have adequate testing, foreign government reporting is sporadic. I think Italy has the more accurate population statistics, China being incomplete. We are late to the curve with sporadic measures depending on state political leadership, our national government is failing and attempting to muzzle public health reporting, and we're unaware of carrier prevalence in the general population. Good luck with that.

I'm calling it Silenced Spring.
