Decades ago, I took a graduate-level college course in statistics and got a peek at the flaws inherent in most public opinion polls. Things have changed in the meantime, so I have to wonder how much survey results’ error factors have changed too.

Case in point: telephone surveys. Most intelligent people are screening incoming calls. The most common comment I hear is “I always check caller-ID, and if I don’t recognize the name/number, I don’t pick up.” How many of these opinion survey calls go unanswered? Doesn’t that screw up the randomness of these surveys?

So, whose opinions are actually counted, and whose aren’t? There’s your 36%. Unfortunately, a lot of them are eligible to vote. That’s why we must do everything we can to make sure every Dem is registered and actually votes in the general election.

Two of the other categories refer to specific people and one refers to a specific organization, but the one for governors is not specific in any sense and is essentially meaningless.

and gonna get to the ultimate cost, their lives.

Yesterday on the excellent Background Briefing, Ian Masters interviewed Jennifer Mercieca, who has a book coming out about donny the demagogue (paraphrase). Basically, she said the reason a lot of these people still support him is that they have so much invested in him by now that they would rather die of COVID-19 than admit they have been catastrophically wrong all this time. Well, looks as though many are going to get that chance.

In case you missed it, there WAS one candidate trusted LESS than Donald Trump in that poll.

Please do not BAN me- I am only the messenger!

JOE BIDEN was trusted by 25% in that poll.

See the whole poll at:

NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll conducted by Hart Research Associates (D) and Public Opinion Strategies (R). April 13-15, 2020. N=900 registered voters nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.3.
