They like to believe in faith as if they know something others don't. They think the devil is always conspiring to ruin their lives. They've been told by their conman president not to trust mainstream news or scientists and should always believe the worst they hear about their opponents (liberals)

The media is not one entity, but some elements of mainstream media have been guilty of overhyping things and spreading panic by drawing incorrect conclusions. think murder hornets and COVID being detectable after 17 days on the cruise ship. The more afraid people are, the more likely to believe in wild theories and act irrationally.
