'It Fits': Reports Of Trump Disparaging Veterans Resonates With What We Know About Him - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow looks at past behavior by Donald Trump, from his remarks about John McCain to his insensitive treatment of a military widow that makes it easy to believe reports that he holds military service in low regard, and makes it harder for Trump and his defenders to dismiss. I'm sure he considers them throw-aways like American workers. Furthermore, putin has envied our military for a long time, so chump must denigrate service members to please his boss.

Ty for posting!

After all this time - and so many harmful and illegal offenses - it appears that this is the one that going to stick. The "Commander in Chief" insulting our military. Long past time and, as usual, Rachel does a great job reporting the details.

Both my grandfathers, my father and both of his brothers, even my brother volunteered in the absence of the draft. And I have 2 cousins who graduated from West Point, 1 male, 1 female. I can't imagine how they're feeling about this latest from Trump...

As a sister and granduagher of military vets, I am absolutely sickenend by his disrespect for those who have served. He is an absolute disgrace to this country and to the men and women who have bravely served in the military. I simply can't understand why anyone would still support him at this point. They are as insane as he is.

But attacking our military and veterans was finally one unforgivable offense too far. And to add insult to injury, American families are proud of all their generations who served - while not one Trump of any generation has stepped up. I'm grateful that this latest offense isn't going away and Rachel is doing a stellar job reporting it.

And should not be to anyone in or out of the military who is paying the least bit of attention. Hopefully this will wake up a few of those who are not doing so and continue to worship at the feet of the House of Trump. I don’t think it will have much affect but pealing away any of his supporters is a good thing.

I understand why the racists support him, he’s their guy, I understand why the Uber wealthy support him as he will give them money in one form or another, anyone else supporting him makes zero sense to me, but looking for the logic often leads to one’s head simply hurting.

Is a mystery to me. But he may have finally crossed the line - since pretty much every family has members who served - until recently a national requirement - and something that's universally regarded as a source of pride and respect. And just maybe those who previously blindly supported him and his insults and prejudices may be taking a second look and seeing him for what he is.

It's a wake up call that's taken way too long in coming, but the fact that some Republicans are turning against him is a good sign. It took the Republicans to bring down Nixon - and after the impeachment hearings it became obvious that's what's necessary to finally rid us of Trump.

Trump talks openly and lays bare the soulless nature of today’s Republicans. Racism, misogyny and authoritarianism used to be couched in dog whistle code words. Trump yells it out in every rally.

The Republicans used veterans as props in public but their actions in cutting benefits and other services told the real story. So many homeless veterans. So many needing mental health services. All ignored in favor of tax cuts for the one percent. Now it’s out in the open and all the Republicans who are veterans once again are silent. Spineless weasels.

and knows that he has always been a coward. The only thing he has had is money to buy all type of protection to cover just how big a coward he has always been. He to me is like the Rittenhouse kid beating up that girl. Rittenhouse had to have help doing it, or that girl probably would have kicked his little cowardly ass. Same with trump, all his life.
