(29,199 posts)but certain images like the homecoming of dead military servicemen and women, the folded flag, the military funeral... they hit me every time... maybe more so now than when I was decades younger.
Hard to believe it's been that long since my older brother was a "sucker" for his country.
This Thing that is our President should not be anywhere near command authority for our soldiers, sailors, marines, air force, or coast guard.

The Cowardly Lyin' Traitor must be voted out in 57 days! Crawling across ground glass to get to a polling place is not enough. We MUST convince all our relatives, neighbors, friends and even strangers-on-the-street to denounce this Un-American. (I'd go so far to label this traitor as "Anti-America" but won't quibble here).
And, while we're at it, we need to suppport all Democratic candidates at the local, state and federal levels. A Blue Tsunami is coming, but we can't just sit back and wait/hope/pray. We MUST get out the vote. Now more than ever.
Thanks, Pop, for your service, dedication, discipline, and -- yes -- sacrifice. Those who have served in uniform, along with their dependents, understand that there are MANY sacrifices they endure to serve our nation. The loss of life is the ultimate sacrifice, but -- as other military spouses and brats will attest -- other hardships are in store. Something the Cowardly Lyin' Traitor would never understand.

(6,818 posts)thinking about the future and the wisdom gleaned from experience. I see a problem and I consider the source, republicans (even apostate), as media heroes.
It wasn't too long ago that powerful government men decided to invest American soldiers' blood and the nation's treasured reputation for less than appropriate, not well considered and altogether ambiguous ends. Wouldn't want to encourage that again now, would we? Many body bags to salute, arms get tired, soul gets cirrhosiotic.
How about the old riddle, "how many hoo-rahs does it take to screw in a Viet Nam?"
