Doctors aren’t always in charge of a patient’s medical treatment, the profit-driven health care industry is. Patients are admitted to the hospital too late and discharged too early, and doctors have too many patients to see. The hospital system is profit driven, and doctors are more like pawns in this system than independent practitioners. Too often a doctor has to fight the system and push uphill in order to do the right thing for the patient.
