'Kristallnacht' Nazi Mass Violence Against Jews Nov. 9-10, 1938: Jakob Sanger 96 Yr Old Witness

*Graphic Images. A Jewish witness to the violent attacks carried out during Kristallnacht is sharing his experiences to help educate future generations. On 9 November 1938 more than 1,000 synagogues were attacked in Germany and Austria. It was the outbreak of mass violence against Jews which was to end in their mass murder. It became known as Kristallnacht - 'The night of broken glass’.
To mark its anniversary, 96-year-old Jakob Sanger is working with Jroots, a charity that specialises in Holocaust education using accounts of survivors.

- On November 9- 10, 1938, in an incident known as “Kristallnacht”, Nazis in Germany torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses and killed close to 100 Jews. In the aftermath of Kristallnacht, also called the “Night of Broken Glass,” some 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to Nazi concentration camps. German Jews had been subjected to repressive policies since 1933, when Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) became chancellor of Germany. Prior to Kristallnacht, these Nazi policies had been primarily nonviolent. After Kristallnacht, conditions for German Jews grew increasingly worse. During World War II (1939-45), Hitler and the Nazis implemented their so-called “Final Solution” and carried out the systematic murder of some 6 million European Jews in what came to be known as the Holocaust...https://www.history.com/topics/holocaust/kristallnacht

1. When my family in Germany knew it was time to leave....

Today I will be leaving white roses at the site of Munich's largest synagogue that was burned to the ground that day and at the Memorial for the White Rose Society next to the Bavarian Parliament and at the burning flame at the Memorial Plaza to the Victims of Nazism.

In memory of the horrors and to the hope that our world will never forget....

With the election of Biden and Harris, I have hope....
