US Election Results: The Latino Vote

Last edited Mon Nov 9, 2020, 05:15 AM - Edit history (2)

A record 32 million Latinos were eligible to vote in the 2020 election, making them the largest minority bloc of voters in the country. Although they historically lean Democrat, their support for the Republican party has been increasing.

How did the Latino vote help shape the outcome of the election?

1. N. LaHood, former district attorney; used to be a Democrat.

Says the Dem Party has changed; there's literally nothing in common:

- Respect for the flag and anthem

- Not for open borders

- More than just immigration

- Respect for the nuclear family

- Abortion

- Taxes

They can be just as ignorant, wrong, and ridiculous.

One of those is "PanAm Post", if you read the articles by some of the writers there you can find made up stories all over and the fact that their big push was to portray Biden and Harris as "Socialists" even though more than 1/2 of them do not know what Socialism is.

I know a lot of Venezuelans that listen to some guy whose "audio" name is "El Gocho", nobody knows who the guy is, where he lives, or what he does besides sending audios every week. For all we know he could be a Russian who speaks perfect Spanish and can imitate a "Gocho" accent. But its so bad that if "El Gocho" says it, it must be true. I have heard some of his audios and they are riddle with made up stories.

There are others also who even provide their names, but when you go on the internet to find out who they are, most of them do not exist, and one particular thing about all of them is that "they have contacts in high places"...yea sure!

Anyway, Latinos have listened to these people and have taken their message as gospel. I also seem to think there is a little Stockholm Syndrome with Latinos, trump abuses them, separates their families, cages their children, calls them rapists, but they still cling to their abuser.

Oh, and I almost forgot...Venezuelans think trump was going to liberate them from the Maduro regime, and they are so stuck on that that they refuse to read anything against it, they refuse to read Chapter 9 of Bolton's book, which is all about USA's plans to get rid of Maduro, where he tells the story of how Putin dominated trump into not doing anything for Venezuela. To them, trump is the savior, even though trump said that Maduro is "strong and intelligent", he actually admires Maduro.

The Hispanic population is so diverse. Hearing that young child speak about socialism makes me shake my head.

If the Hispanic population supported democrats, Texas and Florida would've been blue decades ago. I believe it's more misinformation of what the Democrats stand for.

I'm sure the red coats, centuries ago demanded the colonists to respect the flag.
If you're against immigration, then be against all of it... Melania Trump was here illegally. Trump resorts specifically hire immigrants and garauntee several are here illegally.
Abortion has been in the world for centuries, it won't end now.

Trump is such a shameless and opportunistic liar that he was literally using their fear of dictators to usher the poor Cubanos from the arms of one dictator (Castro) into the arms of another dictator (Trump himself!) and the Cubanos were too blind to see that. I suppose that Trump realized quite early on that no segment, no demographic group of the electorate would be more vulnerable to the lie that Biden was a dangerous socialist / communist - and it worked. The Biden campaign should have gotten to work in Florida to correct this misunderstanding - when they finally recognized the problem and addressed it, it was too little, too late. I looked at the election stats for Florida, and I googled up the size of the Cuban American population of Miami, where Biden didn't do nearly as well as Hillary Clinton did in 2016, and calculated that the whole voter deficit that Biden lagged by could have been due to just 1/5 of the Cuban American community switching to Trump. Imagine - Biden could have been sitting pretty and right on the cusp of 270, instead of having to fight for his life if he had paid more attention to the Cuban American vote, and if he had won Florida as a consequence of that.
