Covid Vaccine's Biggest Obstacle Turns Out To Be Leadership, Not Science - TRMS - MSNBC

Ali Velshi looks at the history of the administration of the small pox vaccine and the public was coordinated to distribute the vaccine as widely and as quickly as possible, an example not reflected in the Trump administration's slow roll out of the coronavirus vaccine. Aired on 12/30/2020.

Looking in these pics for family members, from '47 and smallpox vaccine in NYC. Thanks to Dr. Israel Weinstein.

(and my Grandmother died in the 1918 'flu' pandemic.)

They got the word out, people stepped up, and they stopped this deadly disease in it's tracks! And they relied on radio broadcasts, but people listened to the experts!

And I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I don't know what I would have done without mine, and she told me once that she had it back in the day, she said that her teacher brought her lessons at home which she did in front of the fireplace. Knowing what I know now, I wish so much I'd asked her for more details about it.

Sweet that your grandmother's teacher brought her lessons at home.

Families often had such tough times back then. My grandmother (father's mother) lost her own mother at age 13, but was lucky to also have her grandmother. She married and had 4 children, but then lost her husband (never knew my grandfather) a week past her 40th birthday (heart attack at 48) when my Dad was only 12 and his youngest brother was only 3. But she was amazingly strong, had become a teacher herself, and education was most important to her, all 4 of her kids graduated from college. She had a big influence on my life and I wish that I could be more like her. She died in September 1998, 11 days before her 98th birthday - and I miss her still.
