If Mitt was born on American soil, he's American. No one seemed to have a problem with McCain who was born in Panama but on a US base that was considered American soil. I find that iffier.

I was born in South America of an American father who worked for an American company. However, I was not born on a base or an embassy or consulate ground, so therefore I was considered as born on foreign soil. Although I was a citizen from birth and traveled with an American passport, I was told I could not run for President because the law specifically stated that a President had to be born on native soil. But since when did Republicans have much regard for the law or the Constitution. IOKIYAR

Natural born means American from birth, and Presidential candidates must be born on US soil or be natural born citizens.

any place at that time that was considered US ground. The American consulate who issued my papers, passport, etc. were pretty specific about the laws and made sure my parents indoctrinated me into the specifics as well as many other children born to Americans in that same country then as well. We all got the same instruction. The rules are pretty specific as to what they are. Now it occurs to me that the canal zone in Panama was once considered a US territory, like Puerto Rico, and would have qualified. My bad. I guess McCain was legitimate, but I still cannot run.

but his parents were Americans, so he is still a natural born American.

Same with George Romney, who was born in Mexico, but his parents were Americans, so he is a natural born American.

The same birthers who said that a parent born elsewhere means one is not a natural born citizen should be demanding the same documentation from Mitt.

In the first 20 seconds, George Romney states that his parents were revolution refugees and had to be fed and housed by the US government! Someone should ask Mitt where his family would be if the were no government welfare programs. Isn't that a Repub rallying cry? "No welfare for Mexican immigrants."

He ought to be going after the illegal immigrant vote, especially since Republicans love weak labor unions and lower wages so much!
