George Newago - 'Don't pee in my Cheerios' (Chippewa Tribe Against Mining in N. Wisconsin)

Amazing speech! George Newago - 'Don't pee in my Cheerios'

&feature=youtu.be

Wisconsin speech against mining in N Wisconsin:

George Newago of the RedCliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa tribe really tells it like it is in regards to the horribly flawed & corrupt mining bill that Wisconsin Republicans are trying to ram through. This was from a 'public' listening session in Hurley, WI on January 11th, 2012.

(Thanks for @nicknicemadison tweet)

I saw.. a chart in the Upper Great Lakes Visitor's center that said that the Great Lakes contain a full 20% of the nation's fresh water supply and Lake Superior alone supplies half of that...these tailings from the mining operation will flow into the Bad River and eventually find their way into Lake Superior....it could cause great environmental consequences..that's count number one.

Count number two is that the mining companies will never practice full disclosure of the effects of their operations. George cited the problems with the "red dust" in northern Minnesota. We need full disclosure of the processes and materials used in the mining operation and an open and honest discussion of how to mitigate or eliminate all environmental consequences to extractive mining.

Thank you for the specs on this area. I live in Ohio and we are having earthquakes now from fracking being done in our Eastern Region. It is all about greed and not taking the time to make sure more harm is done then good is accomplished from all this mining.
