I always took it to have a statistical meaning, but when you think about it literally, it does sort of mean "rounded the bend".

if you say that we 'let' these political parties decide what's left and right and we don't hold their feet to the fire..", well, you are a part of that "WE", so what's up with that? All the outlet for which you write are telling you to writers to lay off doing exactly what you're saying?

When we have the NYT's asking the question "does reporting the truth matter?", then that's a bell ringing that is telling all of us the direction in which the NYT plans to take their enterprise. They want storytellers, not reporters and for that, they need to go publish in books, not publish in a newspaper.
