CPAC Crowd Cheers Low Vaccination Rates In America - Ring of Fire

The crowd at CPAC is apparently on the side of the Coronavirus, as they were cheering the fact that vaccination rates in the United States have remained low. This moment came during a speech by conservative writer Alex Berenson who has repeatedly tried to claim that Fauci has been wrong about almost everything regarding the pandemic. Conservatives continue to put their own supporters in danger, and it isn't clear why. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Repugs WANT there to be as many new cases and deaths as possible, so they can then turn to voters next year and say:

"See? See? Biden failed! Look at all these deaths!! (tee hee)"

For them, it's simple Manichean politics: your success is my failure. And the deaths?

Meh. You make an omelet, you break a few eggs.

Cases went way down, even in places that were initially overwhelmed by cases - like New York City. TFG did nothing but say it would "disappear," but he'll somehow manage to take credit and his followers will believe him.

They're counting on that contagious little thing to wreak havoc from here until the '22 midterms.

It may sound harsh - but I don't put anything past them anymore, frankly; I just wish some intrepid soul could catch them on tape scheming in that regard.

Bitchy Mitchy: "What are the numbers like this week?"

Aide: "Well, sir. The Ping May shipped another 80 kilos - though 3 were lost to 'mice'."

Mitch: "Not those numbers, you idiot! The Delta variant!! How many new cases?"

And it's free and available to anyone willing to just roll up their sleeve - a small price to pay to avoid hospitalization and possible death.

Don't get me started, I've been trying to process an experience I had earlier today. I got my first shot (Moderna) as soon as it as available to me (end of February and March), though I had to drive a way to get it. And I was so relieved and excited, I shared that with those I ran across. I also managed to convince my brother, he's been fully vaccinated since the end of May.

There's a much older gentleman (mid 80s) who I see at local meetings. He's well spoken and seems healthy, but I often bring him coffee since he can't work the Keurig coffeemaker. And when I told him, he informed me that his daughter is a nurse at the hospital and she's not getting vaccinated and he gets his medical advice from her!

Now I have friends who also work at that hospital, one works in the ER with psychiatric patients and the other has a clerical job. Both of them were the first I knew who were eligible for and received the vaccine, though they had to drive downstate to a major hospital to get the Pfizer. We have had Covid cases - and deaths - at the local hospital, they always make the front page of the paper, the latest one within this week.

So I happened to see this gentleman earlier today, we've always been friendly, so I couldn't help asking if he'd been vaccinated yet (at this late date). And I got the same answer, his nurse/daughter didn't recommend it - and if it was mandated at the local hospital, she'd quit her job rather than get vaccinated! Not only that, but he said he has two granddaughters who won't get the vaccine, either, since they might want to have children someday!

And then he said he'd heard about the "long haulers," who continue to be very sick after receiving the vaccine! I explained to him that this referred to those who get the virus and continue to experience debilitating symptoms - and that 99.5% of those who contract the virus are those who are not vaccinated!

I knew my words were falling on deaf ears, I cannot compete with the advice of his nurse/daughter. But it is so infuriating to hear someone spew this bullshit - when I know better - but I can't do anything about it!
