4. Oh, that ridiculous - and harmful - comment got to me, too!

All these anti-vaxx comments are doing actual harm to those who take them seriously - we know that people are still dying in this country of Covid, despite the availability of vaccines! The local paper here (NE NY) had as yesterday's headline "COVID Is Not Over" with the front page story about yet another outbreak and the latest Covid death in the local hospital, the second this month. And here in New York, my county is currently at 64% vaccinated, not good enough, but better than much of the rest of the country.

5. louisiana is one of the least vaccinated states

with ever increasing cases and death. their pastors are telling them not to get vaccinated, maybe for the same reasons that some of them handle rattlesnakes.

we in orleans parish are doing much better, but , of course, we get anti mask tourists from everywhere.

6. Well, New York (thanks to Governor Cuomo) is a state that took the virus seriously - to begin with

And in the beginning did a good job of turning that initial outbreak around. But now that we have the vaccine available everywhere, my county is still at only 64% vaccinated - and looks to be doing better at vaccinating than counties to the south and west.

And just in time for the Delta variant which coincided with lifting the strictly enforced mask mandate, it's tourist season in these parts as well. I'm just south of Lake George and, unlike last summer when everything remained closed down, everything is open with a vengeance and the tourists have arrived. I drove through the main street in the Village last week and the sidewalks are packed, without a mask in sight. And they're here from all over - I saw Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina license plates just stopping at a couple of lights.
