2. I can't see how we're going to be ready for in-person learning come fall

Especially if the Delta variant keeps spreading and the rate of vaccinations doesn't increase exponentially. Kids 12-and-up can get the Pfizer now, but they're saying it won't be approved for younger kids until next year. And how many are going to be vaccinated come fall?? Can we make it mandatory? Not much chance of that. And most of the outbreaks I've heard about in these parts were in schools.

4. And will it make a difference? The anti-vaxxers have already made up their minds

But I'm betting that most kids got necessary vaccinations like we all did, yet this one is somehow different, it's become "political," just in time for more younger people getting Covid and being hospitalized.

I honestly don't hold out hope for deplorables.

6. I can't see them requiring it even here in New York

Especially not for kids - or even for teachers. They obviously haven't mandated it for health care workers in hospitals... *sigh*

My friend who teaches drove across the entire state to get vaccinated before it was available locally. But I have a feeling she's the exception. I know for sure she's a registered Democrat since she was on my list when I went door-to-door working on my congressman's campaign a few years back. Even though it was me, and we were friends since we worked together starting in 1980, she was rather upset that my list included her age!

7. Some have already mandated it for employees

I can't recall all the names, but St. Jude's is requiring vaxes for employees.

Several universities hace done so as well.

Keeping fingers crossed, but school is just a few weeks away here for K-12s!

9. It only makes sense for front line workers, or anyone who works in a health care facility

Where there might be Covid cases. The two friends I know who work in the local hospital were the first I knew to get vaccinated - and also my dentist. I'd think it would be required of everyone there, especially nurses!

I'd also think that anyone who works in a public setting would need to be vaccinated, especially those in pharmacies and groceries - and certainly teachers. When a friend returned to college a few years ago, she was required to get the MMR vaccine before she could attend classes, I drove her to get it. So if they can require that, wouldn't it make sense to require the Covid vaccine, too? We know that Covid is highly transmissible and several schools in this area have closed down for a period after outbreaks - including the state university which sent everyone home only two weeks after opening last fall.

11. I think I mentioned that I saw a couple of kids and Moms coming out when I took my brother

They were definitely young teens and they had to stop outside for photos, LOL. And this was in May. And there have definitely been outbreaks at nearby schools, both high schools and elementary. So I'm hoping that it's becoming popular for the eligible kids to get the vaccine. They were certainly inoculated for the usual illnesses like we all were, so vaccinating against a deadly pandemic certainly makes sense!

And the boy, who looked even younger (with half green hair!), took a selfie with Mom. For my brother's second shot, i waited out in the car, so all I had to do was people-watch!

Even more than just seeing one of those "campaign" signs on its own. And how can there possibly be any "women for Trump??"
