Pelosi Nixes GOP Reps Nominated For Jan. 6 Committee Who Would Back Trump - All In - MSNBC

But instead, she just got rid of the two most objectionable - in a typical effort to be "bipartisan." But we all know that McCarthy likely chose who he did only to sabotage the investigation. He first rejected the bipartisan plan, but since the investigation appeared to be going ahead anyway, he chose three members who were against the investigation to begin with. The fact that she only rejected two had to come as a surprise to him - so he did what he intended all along, refused to cooperate yet again. He does not want an investigation, that's the bottom line. 
Granted, there are some who are just jerks - like Rand Paul and Jordan. But McCarthy has shown on more than one occasion that he does know better. TFG is out of office and not coming back no matter what bullying he tries. There is no provision or precedent that would ever allow it. So why is McCarthy - and he's not the only one - throwing what remains of his reputation under the bus to defend an out-of-office contrarian whose legal troubles are mounting by the day?? All I can think is that McCarthy is afraid he'll be under the bus with him, but he's throwing himself there anyway by these embarrassing and foolhardy decisions. 
But it's going to go ahead anyway, with or without him, and he threw away more than one chance to have some input. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the Republicans are attempting to treat this insurrection like they did the 2 impeachments - they figure they can invalidate any and all evidence and conclusions by ignoring it and then saying that it was not "bipartisan."
This Republican is swirling around the drain of history. About time! 
All I really knew before this was that I really liked Jimmy Carter, LOL. But the more I learn, the more I realize that Republicans have ideas not designed to help the country. And the past few years have been just insane - these disruptors are not Republicans, they're pledging loyalty to an ignorant selfish traitor who cares about nothing but himself - no matter what happens to this country!

So I've spent a lotta time watching our national politics degrade. Back in the 70's, great bi-partisan actions were happening. Why? Because there were Republican liberals and moderates that joined with liberal moderate Democrats to move us forward. Then, in the era of Reagan, Republicans mutated into a religious Conservative RW Party. We've lost 40 years dealing with Climate Change, Human Rights, and Equity and the rest of reality..
I went to a boarding (high) school where religion classes were required. Senior year left a lot up to us and I remember we read Father Phil's book! 
And I was certainly living through all those times, of course I was not a fan of Reagan. In the late '80s I visited the USSR with my grandmother and her peace group - she was in North Carolina and they had a "sister town" there. It really was the trip of a lifetime (though initially I was pretty freaked out since I grew up believing the Russians wanted to kill us!), almost all the group were senior citizens, experienced travelers and - I realize now - liberals! I learned a lot from them - and from the Russians we met with - and I have never forgotten. WWII decimated the country and they never wanted it to happen again. There was a lot of hope back then - under Gorbachev- and I feel for them now. And one thing that stuck with me, they did not like Reagan, but were fans of Jimmy Carter! I often wonder what my fellow travelers would think of what's happening now. *sigh*
Had we only listened and followed the California Sound (LA and SF), voted for George McGovern in 1972....how we'd have lived in a different world.
He took the South by appealing to prejudice after starting his campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi, site of the 1964 murders of those three civil rights workers. Even though he was a Southerner, Jimmy Carter's signature issue was human rights. 
BTW, one of the members of my group was a retired college president - whose wife was first cousins with George H.W. Bush. We brought our "sister town" greetings from the POTUS, thanks to him. So I asked Ben what he thought of Bush - and he only said "He's a nice guy, but I don't agree with his politics." If they were still with us, I imagine that group would be horrified now. *sigh*
And, unlike Reagan, his State Department took advantage of Jimmy Carter's diplomatic skills and called on him (as did President Clinton).

The only POTUS I've ever seen in person was President Clinton. He came to my small burg to campaign for our Democratic Congressional candidate, Kirsten Gillibrand. He really is a brilliant speaker and I believe he made the difference - she managed to unseat a long term incumbent Republican who the local news was saying "could have the job for life, if he wanted it." (and Education). He went out of his way to make he government operate more efficiently. Of course I remember how Reagan got rid of Carter's solar panels. Yes, he was before his time when it came to environmental issues - still is! He actually started a solar farm in 2017 that currently supplies half the energy to Plains!
