this virus is unpredictable.

Having the virus apparently imparts some immunity, but each variant is almost like a new virus... the spike protein has changed, the rate of replication (overwhelming the immune response) has increased dramatically, viral loads in the nose and upper respiratory system have increased with Delta by over 1000 times... that isn't a typo... 1000 times.

The issue is... the longer the virus is presented with new hosts to infect... it will mutate and some mutations will emerge that bypass our immune system (either developed as a result of previous infection... or even from vaccines).

Being vaccinated means you will probably survive.

If they recommend a booster, get it, you will probably survive.

Last time I had the data at my fingertips; being unvaccinated is 186 times more dangerous than being vaccinated. Anecdotal evidence indicates the ratio is higher now.

Yes, SOME fully vaccinated people have lost their lives to Covid. MANY MANY unvaccinated people are on their way to dead right now. Unfortunately our current variant is devastating a population that probably had no control over their exposure risk and could not yet be vaccinated, those under 12. If you refuse to get vaccinated and you have kids at risk, you suck.

Saying that everyone will at some time will be infected is not hyperbolic, it is the math of a pandemic. The whole point of getting vaccinated is to teach your body how to fight the virus. The whole point of isolation before the vaccines were available was to be alive long enough to get vaccinated.

We have no idea what the first of the "common colds" did to humanity. We are now in a genome changing event. Some day we will be able to look back and identify the markers that would have identified the highly vulnerable.
